Born and raised in Melbourne, Michelle completed her medical training at the University of Melbourne in 1999. Her specialist anaesthetic training was undertaken locally at the Austin, Royal Melbourne, Mercy, and Royal Childrens’ hospitals, and overseas at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (UK).
She has a part-time public hospital appointment at the Northern Hospital in Epping, where she is involved with supervision and education of junior anaesthetic doctors, and has a role as joint supervisor of GP anaesthetic training. Here she practices in anaesthesia for obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT surgery, orthopaedics, plastics, urology, endoscopy and eyes.
Michelle’s private practice is based mainly at Warringal Private and Epworth Richmond, but spans all across Melbourne from Knox to Werribee. Her work in private work encompasses bariatric surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, orthopaedics and plastics.
Michelle is an Australian Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support instructor, and a NATCAT airway course instructor. She travels annually to Myanmar and Mongolia to provide anaesthetic education for their anaesthetic doctors. She was involved in the creation of the Northern Hospital Emergencies in Anaesthesia course, which has been successfully implemented into the Myanmar anaesthetic degree program.
When not working, Michelle is taxi driver to 2 children, and likes to run and keep fit. She is also completing a Master of International Public Health degree through Sydney University.
